If you are a food lover then this activity is made for you! Taste the authentic and yummy Sumatran food by enrolling in a cooking class with locals ! Go to the market in the morning and buy all the things you need to cook. Local women will then welcome you into their kitchen, share their cooking experience and teach you how to cook traditional Indonesian dishes. You will cook 2 starters and 2 main meals to choose between a large selection of local food (curry, rendang, sambal, sate, tempeh goreng...). After your cooking class, time to enjoy the meals you cooked all together!

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your guesthouse around 9:00 am and take you to a small local market. There, you will meet the local women you will cook with ! You will experience the atmosphere of local markets and buy the fresh ingredients needed for your cooking class.
The local women will then welcome you into their kitchen, where they will give you all the tips to prepare yummy traditional dishes. You will learn how to use Sumatran spices and herbs. You will cook 2 kind of starters to choose between the following list : tempeh goreng (fried tempeh), pinsang goreng (banana fritters), spring rolls, bakwan (vegetable fritters). You will also cook 2 traditional main meals to choose between a large selection : curry, sambal, rendang, semur, asam manis, gado gado, sate, nasi/mie goreng. Veggie options will be proposed!
Our aim is to make you discover all the tastes of the traditional Indonesian cuisine!
The local women will assist you and share with you their cooking experience.
Once your meal is ready, enjoy it all together !
You will be back to your guesthouse around 1 or 2 pm.
Tour includes : transport by becak to the market, ingredient bought at the market, cooking teacher (local women), lunch (meals that you cooked)
